About the CAWL

The Capital Area Wrestling League (CAWL) is a premiere youth wrestling league for kids aged 15 and under, consisting of teams in the Greater Washington, D. C. metropolitan area, including both Virginia and Maryland. For the 2015-2016 season, 8 teams from Maryland and 7 teams from Virginia will make up the CAWL. The CAWL was formed for advanced wrestler who are interested in excelling at the sport of wrestling.

Competing from January through March, the CAWL venues consist of 'dual meets' that run much like a high school or college dual. The CAWL duals take place primarily on Saturday and/or Sunday throughout the season.

The season starts with the Pre-CAWL Tournament the 1st Sunday of December, then each team duals all other teams throughout the season, and the season ends the 1st weekend of March with the CAWL Championship Tournament. The top 4 place finishers for each weight class from the championship tournament receive trophies.
